All Good Things..

Dear TeamCasio,

It is with great sadness to inform you that a brother has flown from the nest.

Having worked like utter nerds through thick and thin for 3 years and finishing our album after our publishing deal with BMG-Chrysalis, Ant will no longer be able to play live for MIDIMIDIS.

I need a truly enthusiastic, motivated and passionate guitarist to learn parts to play this album with me live. No time-wasters please.

MIDIMIDIS will still be playing 6th August with our producer and ‘hero’ Tom Bellamy as a temp replacement ♥

Secret Garden Party

Hi peeps!

Hope you are all well. We had an incredible time at Secret Garden Party this year and were fortunate enough to have Dan Fisher from The Cooper Temple Clause join us on bass for 'a noise only boys can hear'. Ironically it was actually Didz (also ex-TCTC/Dirty Pretty Things) that played the bass line for that track!

It shall be on our forthcoming album which is co-produced by the 'toight' and sexual Tom Bellamy.. Small world eh? :D Blondie were sublime and Leftfield blew our mushroom filled minds. Unbeatable.

To think that the last time I listened to Leftfield was when I was doing my Art A-levels. How things have escalated! Or no.. 'Blossomed' is the more appropriate word.

There was a lot of love and I hope you enjoy the videos and thank you to all of you for coming to see us and then party for 3 solid days! We even bumped into Luke Pritchard (again!) so random but what a lovely chap.

We also finally got to see The Mystery Jets who put on a spectacular show and the lovely lads let us hang out with them at which point we all embarked upon a quest to a forgotten realm whereupon we all lost each-other then found each-other then lost our minds.

Big love goes especially to Nikki Grahame (such a sweetie), Will (Mystery Jets) Eddy Temple-Morris ('The Guru'), Darren ('DancingDazza'). Love to my main men James Beck, Liam ('Jack Hopper') and the rest of The Cooper Temple Clause lads for making us have the most enjoyable experience ever and watch us play our favourite show since Reading and Leeds Festival.

There's a lot of love in TeamCasio 2011 <3 <3

OFFICIAL VIDEO for The Despondent

Hey TeamCasio

Hope you're are all well.  Here's our brand new video for 'The Despondent' which was filmed in one take and edited on my iPhone 4 last Saturday on the way to Shoreditch Radio (which I never made in the end. Bloody tubes.)

Hope you like it, it's pretty.. Despondent so that's ticked all my boxes :) Help spread the word and share with all your friends.

We are really excited to announce that we're going to be playing our first Northampton show in 2 years! This will be at The Labour Club on Thursday 30th June and is our warm-up to our show with Heaven 17 at Govida Festival the next day. Bring glow-sticks!

I don't know if any of you noticed (probably not because you have lives!) but our pretty MySpacey-space didn't work.  So letting the rather fortuitous benefit of OCD take over, I have, along with the wonderful Adam, spent nearly 5 months contacting various 'technical' departments, playing 'Pong' with emails, written new bits of code, deleted old bits, pulled my hair out, the lot.

FINALLY our brand spanking new MySpace works! So head on over and enjoy some new live songs, live footage and demos. http://www.myspace.com/midimidis

Following Govida Festival we will be heading back to Reading for Outside:inside Festival to play in a shopping mall. This will be a fantastic event and is taking place on Saturday 9th July. You can get your tickets here: http://outsideinsidefestival.com/tickets/  There's a whole host of wonderful acts that we're excited to be sharing the festival with, gonna be fun.

What else? Well we're just mixing tracks for our album at the moment. It's sounding unbelievably EPIC! We have been a bit naughty as we performed the opening track from it acoustically for BBC Berkshire The Session. Ill pop it up on MySpace in the next few days for you :) For now though you can hear it in PSP form and acoustic below at our Courtyard session for The Fly: http://www.muzu.tv/thefly/midimidis-the-detrimental-music-video/985774

It was much fun.. In fact I don't really remember what happened after.. I think we played a show..? Or did an interview? Or both.. Maybe.. Hmm thats really gonna bug me now. I digress.

All I remember is I got my official MIDIMIDIS designer trainers given to me by the lovely Georgina from Sole Music.  They are on sale now and there's three designs to choose from. Check them out here you sexy things: http://www.solecreator.com/design_details?design=MDMDEHwhtCollage4

So that's it for now my lovelies. Until Secret Garden Party I bid you all farewell and hope to see you at the next live shows. Don't be shy!

NEW DOUBLE A-SIDE IS OUT NOW!

Word up TeamCasio

Its been a busy few weeks so forgive my late blogging! We had an incredible show at NME Koko two weeks back and then the following Thursday we played a lovely (probably my favourite one!) in Islington for The Dig.

We were honoured to have once again BBC 6Music's Chris Hawkins, Carl Barat and 2/3 of The Cooper Temple Clause in attendance. We like build bridges peeps.

Thanks to all of you who came down to see what all this fuss is about. Truly wonderful night and we thank you all for coming and making the whole night before, during and after truly memorable! It seems every show is becoming more of a spectacle, tighter, louder and more sexual than each show before it. This is how we roll.

So on Monday our brand new double a-side was released worldwide on all major digital sites (iTunes/Amazon etc) and for the first time ever- we have made available a limited edition print in CD format!

HMV seems to be the cheapest option with free delivery so here's a cheeky link below TeamCasio

http://hmv.com/hmvweb/simpleMultiSearch.do?searchUID=&pGroupID=0&adultFlag=false&simpleSearchString=midimidis&primaryID=0&btnSubmitSearch.x=0&btnSubmitSearch.y=0

The pre-orders for this limited CD print have been phenomenal, so a betamax-ultra thanks to all who already have a copy in their hands! For those who haven't, the *are* running out so get your hands to them before they all do :)

I mentioned earlier we played NME Koko. We were interviewed by Hit The Floor Magazine before we were due to go onstage and it was rather memorable. Partied till 9am. Nice.

Next show is for The Fly magazine for one of their Courtyard sessions on the 11th May. We have a little surprise up our sleeves for this recorded show.. More details to follow.

Spread the love team x

MIDIMIDIS / BMG / MR FOGG / UNIVERSAL / NME KOKO / NEW DOUBLE A-SIDE 2/5/2011

A few months back I posted some footage and demos from our recording session with Mr Fogg at Universal. The session turned out very fruitful indeed and so we left with two cracking tracks and a publishing deal with BMG.

Finally these two tracks will be released as a double a-side both physically and digitally on May 2nd (waaay over a year since our last single). It's our first release on BMG and we're happy to have been able to keep it 'indie/DIY' and so it's released on local label Josaka. Keeping it 'real' and close to the streets or something.. !

Pre-order our BRAND NEW DOUBLE A-SIDE 'The Despondent' & 'Its Difficult' at HMV peeps: http://www.hmvdigital.com/artist/midimidis/the-despondent-its-difficult

Playing NME KOKO on 15th April if any of you fancy partying with us. It's been enscrutiatingly busy few months as we mix our album and I've been staring at an unopened box of glowsticks everyday for the past few months so time to party like it's 1991.

Thanks to everyone who has been supportive (and everyone that hasn't!). It all started at The Rising Sun Arts Centre and if it wasn't for playing regularly we would probably still be making 20 minute noise-core as we always forgot our leads. You live and learn ;)

Tuesday 29 March 2011

My First Pedal.

And so this peeps- is my first ever distortion pedal that I've ever personally bought. This essentially means it's 'mine' and so like an excitable 8yr old I'm staring at it and touching it (the pedal come on now) lots. Yes.. I have no leads. Yes it's a bass distortion pedal BUT it sounds unfathomably Betamax for my home-made customised Les Paul 2-string guitar: http://yfrog.com/gzntwnrj

The lovely Brett Anderson came to see us play last night with his wife. After munching the finest baked potatoes I've ever had (and a bit of a life saver to be honest.. Might have been a bit merry) we headed off to Notting Hill Arts Club. I got to use my 'Fab Fuzz' for the first time and MY did it sound sexual!! The best £27.50 I've ever spent. Wonderful crowd, wonderful night and after deciding to pee before getting a McDonnalds at Paddington before the last train home (I had a 20min window before it arrived) I learnt the hard way that sometimes sensibility doesn't always result in success. By the time I wondered up to McDonnalds it had closed. There's no moral to the story but it at least explains the hangover and the smile on my face after an overall truly Betamax night.

Roll on the next show. NME Koko 15th April :)

MIDIMIDIS shows Thursday and Friday w/ Eddy Temple-Morris' LOSERS

We have two MEGA shows coming up on Thursday at The Queen of Hoxton and then Friday at The Grove with Xfm's Eddy Temple-Morris' LOSERS

Thursday is an incredible show at The Queen of Hoxton with some special guests and faces coming to soak up the chip-tune love.  You'd be KERazIe to miss this.

Mega party afterwards too peeps: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=131100756963463

We then plan to try our upmost to not party TOO hard till 6am like last time we played our sold-out sow with Losers and instead mix the live show and the album tracks the Friday morning with Tom Bellamy (Losers/The Cooper Temple Clause). Wish us luck..

For those of you following us on www.Twitter.com/MIDIMIDIS you'll have seen that Eddy Temple-Morris has announced this week that MIDIMIDIS will be supporting Losers this Friday at The Grove. This means you shall all be able to hear some new material and tweaks we've been making with the chip-tune in the past two months.

PRE-ORDER tickets here http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=xxx&query=schedule&promoter=grovesw19&interface=grovesw19

Gearing up for NME Koko. Before then we're pushing our sound to the MAX. Come share the love :)

NEW song 'The Despondent' LIVE

NEW song 'The Despondent' (rare old version) performed LIVE last week at 21 South Street for Josaka.

This and 'It's Difficult' our new double a-side is out
Monday 2nd May peeps :)

You can pre-order the limited edition physical CD from HMV here:

Haggis.

Went on a quest for to find real traditional Haggis today. I've done a De-Niro (Taxi Driver era) and driven all over Reading to find no shop selling it. However using inside intel. gained by the mighty DJ that is Chris Bounds my quest was not on vain and can report that my mission was wholly successful.

Saturday 19 March 2011

Just a normal Saturday in Reading.

How I managed to get 'started on' *twice* within 20 minutes in Reading town after 6 years of peace here I have NO idea!!

So yes, today I finally got to see my main man James' new flat which is georgeous. I was constantly aware of the potential of an unwanted hangover (resulting from Didz and my DJ set Friday night) and can thankfully say I succeeded in averting such a catastrophe in the end. We had a little wonder around Reading town to eventually meet Didz to pick up an old but cool apple-y computer machine.

Quote of the day I think has to be 'so are you a football fan or a rugby fan?' to the guy that started on me because he thought I was 'gay' despite him holding a blue WKD in his hand. At which point the police happened to walk past and I said 'hello guys, you might want to have a little chat with these fellas' and and we then wondered off to watch Prof. Brian Cox taking about The Wonders of the Stoner System: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30ruBtLIvJM&sns=tw

And that peeps, was my Saturday.

MIDISoundSystem vs. DIDZ (Dirty Pretty Things - The Cooper Temple Clause)

TONIGHT MIDISoundSystem is BACK!

Didz Hammond (34th coolest person in the world- NME), Cooper Temple Clause veteran, member of Carl Barât’s Dirty Pretty Things and Brett Anderson’s live band comes to The Oakford with Marcus MIDIMIDIS (34th coolest person in Reading) to battle in an epic fight for musical survival.

The two forces combined will be spinning bangers not anthems, and mix a bold and innovative collection of old punk/indie/80s/90s vinyl and bootlegs collected over time from childhood, lovers and other strangers.

This new monthly slot will feature guests from all three band campsand a few other surprises on the way. This is not to be missed EVER.

SUEDE'S BRETT ANDERSON loves MIDIMIDIS in NME Band Crushes 2011

SUEDE'S BRETT ANDERSON loves MIDIMIDIS in NME Band Crushes 2011

The nicest man in rock (Gary Numan is the nicest man in electro) has bigged us up in NME's New Band Tips 2011 edition p.15

You can see all the recommendations for 2011 here:

Thank you to all of you for being *so* patient- I can reveal that since signing to BMG we started to pick up from where we left off and have recorded one track a day with The Cooper Temple Clause's Tom Bellamy at the helm in his front room. Currently have 11 tracks done.

We also took over Universal's studios for two days with Mr Fogg and have physical/vinyl/digital double a-side coming out end of March/April.

Only one vocal to do for 'Kingdom of the Spiders' which has now turned into a 9 minute epic..!! Then the album is done. !!

I can't wait for you to hear this album it is like nothing you've ever heard but with bits of things you have.. :D If TCTC met The Strokes in a dark ally way with Nirvana watching and Sonic stroking his pointy blue hedgehog hair- THAT IS THE SOUND of the album! :D

We will be playing a few key shows in London one for BBC6 Music and some others so keep your eyes peeled before the tour.
